"So You Think You Know Richmond?!" Contest

may contestRABA Sponsors Local-Biz Contest

Participate in RABA's new “So, You Think You Know Richmond Contest” for your chance to Win $100 in freshly-minted "Richmond Dollars". The Richmond Area Business Association (RABA) wants to test your knowledge of downtown Richmond businesses and give you an opportunity to win $100 of our very own currency - "Richmond Dollars" - which can only be redeemed at Richmond’s participating, downtown merchants - and, thus, helping to keep our local money, local. Each month, RABA will select ten, new photos of business-interior features, taken at various “downtown” merchants’ locales, throughout the bridge closure period, of March through June. Your challenge is to identify the mysterious business, featured in each photo. Sounds simple, huh? Well then, here’s your chance to prove just how well you really know your home community.

01 This contest is open to all who are 18 years of age and older.

02 Visit RABA's website to view this month’s current ten photos. For the purposes of this contest, the “downtown” district of Richmond consists of the geographical area, lying within these designated confines:
- Mann & Machine Auto Repair
- Richmond Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine
- Washburn’s Servicenter
- Richmond Animal Hospital
- Isaac’s Antiques.

03 Email your list of the ten, named businesses to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by the contest deadline. Business names should be clearly stated. Ambiguous names cannot be considered. All entries will be determined as “100% correct” at the sole discretion of a RABA Board Member. The deadline for the April Contest drawing is April 30, 2009.

04 Within 5 days after the contest deadline, all entry-lists, which correctly identified all 10 business locations, featured in the photo montage, will be put into a “basket” before the winning entry is selected at random, by a RABA Board Member. There will be at least two Board Members present, when each month's contest-winner selection occurs.

05 Each monthly winner will be given ten gift certificates of $10 each in “Richmond Dollars,” to be spent at any participating “downtown” merchant.

06 The $100 in “Richmond Dollars” must be spent in $10 increments. Businesses will not be expected to give back change. Businesses accepting these “Richmond Dollars” will contact Larry Bohen, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. FAQ:

Based on the March Contest, here are the answers to the following FAQs:

  1. Who is eligible to submit entries? Anyone who is 18 years of age or older (excluding Larry and his wife, Sally, who selected the businesses featured in this month’s photo montage).
  2. Can I consult with anyone to help identify the businesses? YES. Absolutely! The whole idea of the contest is to get people talking about and visiting the downtown businesses. The more talking the better. Get your family or a group of friends together to figure out the correct answers. Perhaps you as an individual don’t recognize all ten businesses, but several people collectively probably can. Identify the 10 businesses as a group and then submit your individual entries. One entry per person, please.
  3. I work in one of the businesses in the contest. Can I enter? YES.
  4. Can I win more than once? YES. In addition to the March and April Contests, RABA plans on contests for May and June
  5. Can a business be in more than one month’s contest? YES.
  6. Do I have to be a resident of Richmond to enter? NO.
  7. Do I have to spend the “Richmond Dollars” certificates by a certain date? YES, by July 31, 2009.
  8. Do I have to spend the “Richmond Dollars” certificates in Richmond? YES, they are only redeemable at stores/businesses within the designated area of “downtown” Richmond.
  9. Are the “Richmond Dollars” certificates redeemable for cash? NO.

Both March and April Contests were made possible, thanks to prize-funds being generously donated by Larry and Sally Bohen, of
